5.4 Menu description

All bindings to menus and menu items described in this section are usual ones (depending of your operating systems, of course), when usage is.

5.4.1 File menu

This menu (see fig:qod:filemenu) allows to restart a new comparison by launching the selection window (item New) or by launching the open dialog (item Open – see Figure 3.1). An item also allows to refresh the cache if any (see Configuring qodgui).

User can export generated graphics into files too (see Figure 5.1). It is possible to export only segmentation or partition graphics, or both of them superposed. The resolution and the ratio of the generated image are those of the current graphics (i.e., it depends on the scale defined by the top horizontal and the two left vertical scrollbars.

It is also possible to preview or print the computed data (and to configure the page setup). Nevertheless, since documents can be several hundreds pages long, their creation can take few minutes. Fortunatly, once the preview has been initialized, only the included graphics is updated1 every time you select one of these two menu items.

Graphics exportation and printing features are enabled only with the main output of the application window see Figure 5.1.

Finally, this menu allows to exit the application2.

5.4.2 Edit menu

Items of this menu (see fig:qod:editmenu) are enabled only with the main output of the application window see Figure 5.1, except the access of the configuration dialog window (see Configuring qodgui), which is always active3.

The 'Find' menu item display the search bar (see Figure 5.7), and the 'Search Previous' and 'Search Next' menu items (if enabled) are synonymous of clicking on 'Previous' or respectively 'Next' buttons of this bar.

Pairwise similarity files must follow the axt format and an annotation file must have been loaded in order to turn the 'Transfer annotations' menu item on. In such case, it simply lauch the corresponding dialog (being modal window, see Figure 5.2).

5.4.3 View menu

Items of this menu (see fig:qod:viewmenu) corresponds to the display of the main output application window. Actually, the Partition graphic (resp. the mci and partition trees) is(are) shown and only if 'Show Histogram' (resp. 'Show Text Area') is checked. It is possible to scitch in full screen mode too.

Finally, one may want to view the pairwise similarities belonging to the mcis as a dotplot, a global alignment or a circular alignment. This can be achieve by selecting the 'Show pairwise comparisons' item. This launch a modal dialog window that do the stuff.

5.4.4 Help menu

For non Macos users, the first item of this menu (see fig:qod:helpmenu) allows to display informations about the qodgui application (developpers, translators, ...). Macos users will find the corresponding feature in the program menu.

In the same way, non Macos users can access this help in a dialog window by selecting the last item of this menu. On Macos, the help menu item is in the program menu.

Finally, it is possible to check at startup if your version of qodgui is up to date, by checking the corresponding menu item, or to manually check it by selecting the 'Check for Update' menu item. These features require to have an internet access. Otherwise a message will be prompt to inform you that the connexion fails.

If your version appears to be not up to date, informations about the latest version and a link to download it will be prompt for you. If you manually check your version, a prompt dialog will appear even if your version is the latest that confirms this fact.
